Mollies ridge saved my life during a sudden rain showers in the dead of winter, thanks for the shelter!
I have not been to this shelter, but I been to others in Smoky Mt. N.P., tent camping is not allowed at the shelters. The above post sounds like they were breaking several rules. If they had the required permits they should have known this. (Thru-hikers have some special exceptions)
Camped here outside the shelter. Decent water source. Plenty of tent spots. Perfect distance from Fontana Dam.
